Why We’re Here
To put it simply, Shiva and Lightbulb need their new furever home.
🖤 Hi, I’m Shiva. 🖤
I'm 11 years old, a Bombay, and I have beautiful green eyes.
I'm also apparently very good at making myself at home. I'm a very social boy.
I'm pretty mellow these days, although I still get very excited when someone makes a toy fly through the air like a bird. Then I turn into a little hunter and jump up to catch it.
I'm also very easygoing about being handled. You can pick me up and hold me. You can even throw me over your shoulder like a sack of potatoes. I love being carried this way.
If you're sitting down, I'm probably going to come see you.
If you're lying down, I might sleep beside your head.
If your hand is nearby, I might bump my head against it because obviously you should be petting me.
I love people.
I love attention.
I love wet food, Tastefuls puree, raw meat, fish, being brushed, laser pointers, windows, boxes and cozy hidey holes.
I'm a cat, though, so I do have opinions.
If you pet me the wrong way, I may tell you that you're doing it wrong.
Please respect the warning. 😂
And I love being near my person. I've been with my person my entire life. Yep! 11 whole years.
She found me outside a Walmart when she was alone and wanted some company. She thought I was a girl at first. She didn't know what to name me, so she asked Spirit. The answer was Shiva. Years later, she learned that Shiva is the name of a Hindu god.
I've traveled across the country twice with her. I've lived in at least eight different homes. I've been there through relationships, changes, difficult times, beautiful times, nights of crying and nights of loving.
I've been her companion for a very long time.
But now she's building a different kind of life. And she has realized that keeping me through the next phase of her life would not allow me to have the love, attention, affection, and pets as I deserve.
That doesn't mean she doesn't love me. She does. She wants me to have a home where someone genuinely wants a cat like me. Someone who wants a companion. Someone who enjoys having a cat who will come looking for them. Someone who understands that I'm an older gentleman with opinions, affection, and a whole lot of love left to give.
🏡 My ideal home
I need an adults-only home with no small children.
I'd probably be perfectly happy being your only pet, although I can tolerate other animals.
A peaceful home would be wonderful.
I use my litter box very well in the right environment, but I've had problems when living with other male cats, so that's something my new person needs to understand.
I want windows. I want cozy places to sleep. I want someone who will play with me sometimes. And I want someone who will let me come sit beside them when I decide it's time.
I'd love to stay with Lightbulb. We've been together since he was six weeks old, and even though I wasn't initially thrilled about having a kitten around, I've come to love the little guy.
But what matters most is that we both end up somewhere safe, stable, and loved.
If you think an affectionate, mellow, green-eyed gentleman might be missing from your life...
Maybe I'm the guy you've been looking for.

🤍 Hi. I’m Lightbulb. 🤍
I'm 6 years old, a tuxedo, and I am extremely handsome.
I'm also a little ridiculous. But you'll probably figure that out pretty quickly.
I LOVE to play. Give me a bouncy ball and I'll chase it across the floor like it's the most exciting thing that has ever happened. Give me a little toy mouse with a string tail and I'll have a wonderful time.
Although... The string won't survive. I like to chew it off and swallow it, then throw it up later.
I'm also a huge fan of laser pointers, and unlike some cats who get bored after five seconds, I can keep playing for a while.
I love to lick cheese chips, eat blue buffalo bursts, sleep in sinks, and I’m learning to meet new people.
When I'm happy, I roll around. I rub against things. I act silly.
And when I want you to pet me, I may come over and gently nibble your hand or arm.
That's my way of saying: “Excuse me. It's time for attention.”
I'm affectionate, but I have rules. I do not like being picked up. At all. Please keep my feet on the ground and we're going to get along just fine.
I also don't immediately trust everyone. I'm shy around strangers and sudden movements and loud noises can scare me.
Especially bags.
Paper bags.
Shopping bags.
Garbage bags.
If it makes that crinkly sound, I'm out as fast as lightning.
But here's the thing:
Once I trust you, you'll see a completely different side of me.
I'm playful.
I'm affectionate.
I love being brushed.
And if I really trust you, I'll even let you hold me for a warm bath—as long as the water is warm and gentle.
I've been with my person since I was about six weeks old. I was originally adopted as a gift for her son, but I ended up becoming part of her life instead. I grew up with Shiva. He wasn't exactly impressed with me when I was a baby.
I was energetic. Very energetic. Eventually he decided I wasn't so bad, and we've been together ever since.
🏡 My ideal home
I need an adults-only home with no small children.
I'd do best with someone who is patient and understands that I need to decide when I'm ready to trust you and others.
I'm affectionate, but I don't want to be forced into affection. I don’t like to be held or picked up but I’ll come sit with you when the time is right.
I like having places to hide, high places to sleep, windows to watch from, scratching posts, toys to chase, and room to explore.
I can tolerate other animals, but I don't really need them. A peaceful home where I don't have to share territory with another male cat may be best for me.
I use my litter box very well in the right environment, but I've had problems when other male cats are present. (except Shiva)
I'd love to stay with Shiva. We've spent almost my entire life together.
But if the right home comes along for each of us, we can eventually thrive separately too.
What I'm really looking for is someone who understands that being my person means earning my trust and then getting to discover all the goofy, loving, playful things that happen once I decide you're safe.
I'm not for everyone.
But maybe I'm exactly the boy you've been looking for.
